RE: SLWCS Website -the project goes on...[wrd]

Chandeep,

Thank you for clearing all this up; it really helps us get the ball rolling.

Since your primary goal is to provide information, we need to focus extra diligently on the structure, organization and navigation of the website; this is because the measure of success for an informational site is how quickly the users can find what they're looking for (and the quality of the information, of course).

Lets try to nail down the navigation & structure.   Since many find nature.org appealing, I suggest we try to come up with something similar.

They have a nice navigation bar (tabs) that remains with the user throughout their interaction with the website. This is important because:

1)      It provides a consistent look and feel to the website

2)      It shows the user all available options instead of making the user look for them in a possibly buried menu somewhere

3)      It is very intuitive as many other websites use this design pattern (http://developer.yahoo.com/ypatterns/pattern.php?pattern=navigationtabs)

Attached is one suggestion for a header that could remain with the user on every page, guiding the user throughout swls.org; this is also a way to organize our contentFeel free to offer alternate suggestions or organizational structures.  Please don't focus on the logo or design too much just yet, but rather on the organization of the links and how they function.  We can worry about the images and colors once we nail down the structure & navigation.

Also, Mark & Anastasia, can you please send me the design you guys had in mind? I received a file but it has no extension so I'm not sure which application I should use to open it.

Looking forward to everyones feedback.

Thank you guys and happy holidays to all!

Igor
